1976 Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollar – Type 2 Reverse Struck only in 1975-76, the Bicentennial “Ike” dollar carries the dual date 1776-1976 and Joseph Fitzgerald’s Liberty-Bell-and-Moon reverse. It was the first circulating U.S. dollar to honor a President (Dwight D. Eisenhower) and the first large-size dollar issued since 1935. All business-strike coins are copper-nickel clad; only the San Francisco-mint collector issues were 40 % silver. The sharp, thin lettering on this coin marks it as the desirable Type 2 reverse used for most 1976 production.
