Additional Details
The reverse design features Britannia holding the Union Jack Shield and a trident representing Great Britain’s naval history.
The inscriptions encircling the image are “‘BRITANNIA’ 2024’ 1 oz’ 999’ FINE’ SILVER’” referring to the series, issuance, weight, purity, and metal content.
Four security features make the Silver Britannia one of the safest against counterfeiting in the world.
On the lower-left hand of the design, there is a trident head within a circle. The trident changes to a padlock according to the viewer’s perspective.
Another visual animation is included in the background. The waves come to life as the coin is tilted from side to side.
Britannia’s Union Jack Shield is accented with tincture lines, and a micro inscription surrounds the design with the words “Decus et Tutamen,” which means “an ornament and a safeguard.”
The new obverse design depicts King Charles III, a Martin Jennings’ creation. The Latin inscription at the borders read “CHARLES III – D – G – REX – F – D – 2 POUNDS – 2024,” which translates to ‘Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith.’
