In 2022, the Japan Mint released a special coin set celebrating the 25th anniversary of One Piece, one of the most iconic anime and manga series of all time. This officially licensed set was a unique collaboration between the Japan Mint and the One Piece franchise, issued only through a public lottery in Japan.
What’s Inside
Each sealed set includes:
- Japan’s standard 2022 circulating coins (1 yen to 500 yen), Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition
- A custom-designed One Piece copper medal in the center
- A vibrant “Wanted Poster” background featuring members of the Straw Hat crew
- Decorative outer packaging themed after the Going Merry and the Japan Mint itself
The entire presentation is sealed and not intended to be disassembled, preserving its collector integrity.
Mintage and Distribution
- Maximum authorized mintage: 108,000 sets
- Availability: Only through a Japan Mint lottery system in mid-2022
- International release: Very limited, with most sets remaining in Japan
- Sets were not sold in stores or through regular channels, making them hard to acquire even at release
